Recreation District V Millage (1.00 Mill)
Parks and recreational facilities bring us together as a community. This millage supports the recreational system in District 5. This includes park maintenance and additions, as well as funding the 5th district summer camp. Last year, 70 students participated in the 5th District Summer Camp.
Parish-wide recreation is funded by sales tax, which has been on a steady decline, reducing funds for recreation parish-wide. Without this district specific millage, operation and maintenance of the 5th District park would be absorbed by the Parish Budget, further stretching resources to all parks.
After over a decade of litigation, the 5th District Recreation Building is being redesigned and is set for completion in 2026. The project was awarded a $3.5 million Hometown Revitalization grant. Once completed, this building will be maintained with funds from the District 5 Millage
