Road Maintenance Millage (4.93 Mills)
Smooth, safe roads are essential for our daily lives. Over the last 4 years, 220 parish roads have been resurfaced, restored, or preserved. This millage supports the rehabilitation and preservation of parish roads. Without it, these programs would stop, leading to deteriorating road conditions and safety concerns. There are 226 miles of roads maintained by the parish – these roads are critical for everyday life, and essential during an emergency.
As of December 2024, 319,262 square yards of Mastic Seal, 80,046 square yards of BIORESTOR sealant, and 103,046 feet (19.5 miles) of crack sealant has been applied to St James Parish streets. This work isn’t done – there are many more roads that need repair, and without this millage, that won’t happen. The millage renewal allows us to continue to repair our roads and keep them in top shape for the benefit of all.
