Visit St. James Parish

Known as the Perique Tobacco and Bonfire Capital of the World, St. James Parish is home to a history, tradition and culture all it's own.

Located along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, nestled between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, St. James Parish is home to some of the region's most well-known plantation homes, mouth-watering Cajun cuisine and a "sweet" charm that can't be matched.

Take part in one of our many special traditions, including the famous Lighting of the Bonfires, which lights up the sky along the levee on Christmas Eve, walk back through time in one of our many plantations, or learn about agriculture in St. James Parish including Perique Tobacco - only grown right here!
