Elderly Services Program celebrated the Nineteenth Annual Carnival Social on February
17, 2017 at Rose’s Catering, located at 10141 Frontage Street, St. James,
Louisiana. The Mistress of Program, Mrs. Marvis Brown, opened the night with
the introduction of the past King and Queen followed by the invocation by Ms.
Audrey Harris and welcome by Mr. Milton Cayette. The 2017 "Young at Heart” King, Mr. Robert
Roy and Queen, Mrs. Gloria Keller, were selected during the social by a drawing
pulled by Mr. Ken Brass, Councilman, District 6 and Mr. Eddie Kraemer, Councilman,
District 7. The 2017 king and queen were
crowned by the past king and queen, Mr. Milton Cayette and Ms. Audrey Harris in
the absence of the Parish President, Timothy Roussel. A toast was made to the
2017 Royals by Mr. Ken Brass. The 2017 King
and Queen were presented gifts by Councilman Ken Brass, and Councilman Eddie
Kraemer. After the royal walk, the Royals were graced with a dance by little
Miss Tierney Zenon.
St. James Parish Area Agency on Aging thanks Motiva Enterprises for being the major contributor
for the past nineteen years. Their generous financial support and sponsorship
helps to make the Carnival Social an annual celebration of the senior’s
contribution to the life, culture, and vitality of the St. James Parish
community. We also want to thank Peoples
Health, "A Class Act” Photography, Roussel’s Gifts & Jewelry, Rose’s
Catering, Department of Human Resources Transit Drivers, and anyone else who
may have contributed to this event; their contributions have made it possible
for the elderly of St. James Parish to benefit from this annual carnival
social. The carnival social has been an
exciting and exhilarating event for the elderly of St. James Parish; it has
made a difference in the lives of our seniors.
