Transportation Program

St. James Parish is one of the few rural areas in the nation with a regularly scheduled in-parish transportation system. Any general public person may ride for $1.00. Any parish resident or non parish resident who is elderly or has a disability can ride for 50 cents. Children 5 years of age or younger can ride for free.

St. James Parish Transit operates routes daily, Monday through Friday, along state Highways 44 and 18 (East and West bank) with side trips on connecting streets, including major streets in the towns of Lutcher and Gramercy. Requested route deviation is also available.

Dial-A-Ride, funded partially by United Way, offers in-parish non-emergency medical transportation to disabled, low-income, and elderly residents of St. James Parish. This program is operated in coordination with the parish Transit System.

Transportation services can be requested by calling the number below.

For more information about the Transportation Program, see Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).
