Head Start Program
|

St. James Parish Head Start Program provides a high quality, developmentally appropriate education program to children three to four years old. Head Start ensures that children receive needed medical services, including age-appropriate screening and immunizations, dental check-ups and needed dental care, nutrition and social services. A family service plan is developed with families to help identify goals that will improve their quality of life and addresses their family needs. This may involve connecting families with opportunities in education, training or employment. Home visits are utilized to ensure that Head Start staff is fully aware of the family needs and relevant family issues. Parental involvement is a key element of St. James Parish Head Start – parents participate in every aspect of the program, including program governance.
