When the Sub-title D regulations took effect in 1993, the Parish Council opted to get out of the landfill business.  Since 1993, the collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables have been contracted to private solid waste contractors.  Presently, Waste Management of South Louisiana has the solid waste curbside collection  contract.  Residents may contact Waste Management at 1-800-548-8597 if they have any problems or concerns.

The Parish Council manages and operates collection sites on each side of the river.  Additionally, white goods, tires, and metals are collected at each site and recycled.  The Parish plans to include the collection of used batteries, old paint, used oil, and antifreeze to its operations in an effort to reduce adverse impacts to our environment.  The sites are located at:
