Engineering

The Engineering section was established in 1985 to assist all other divisions in the Department of Operations in performing their work, which require some form of engineering applications or calculations.  The Engineering division assists in the supervision of work involving the construction and inspection of new construction, remodeling, repairing structures, and preliminary layout and design.  The division computes grades, plots cross sections, and checks design geometries on buildings, canals, ditches, water and gas line supplies, roadways, and other public works.

The Engineering division is responsible for proper culvert installation, street construction, and Parish wide drainage investigations and reports.  Documentation of violations of Parish ordinances developed to ensure the proper and orderly development of the Parish is conducted through the Engineering division.

Supervisor Greg Simon, with a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology, is supported by two engineering technicians who are well trained in engineering applications and the use of levels, transit distance meters, GPS, and several other surveying instruments.
