St. James Parish President Dufresne recommended to have Halloween as usual this year, and the council approved the hours of trick-or-treating on Saturday, October 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Guidance from the CDC and Louisiana Department of Health recommends the following for residents interested in participating:
π Children and parents wear cloth face masks appropriate for COVID-19 (Costume masks are not approved protection.)
π» Practice hand hygiene and bring hand sanitizer to use between houses
π Do not participate if you or your child feels sick, has symptoms of COVID-19 or if you or a family member are under isolation or quarantine restrictions
π» Maintain social distance of at least six feet from other groups
π Put candy or treats in individual bags and lay them out for children, instead of putting them in a large bowl, for visitors to grab themselves
π» Turn off house lights if you are not comfortable participating this year
